Talks between the Haryana government and Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) failed on Friday after no consensus was reached between the two sides over the demands by farmers.

The meeting, which started at 5 pm in Chandigarh, went on for four hours. Issues related to withdrawal of cases registered against farmers, compensation for those who died in the movement, construction of memorial sites and providing jobs to the kin of deceased farmers were discussed.

After the meeting, farmer leader Gurnam Singh said that no consensus was reached on any issue during the meeting. He alleged that the government was not sensitive to the farmers' issues.

He added that the SKM will next hold a meeting on Saturday to discuss its next strategy.
