Heres A List Of Players LSU Football Has Added From The Transfer Portal

LSU football is in a transitional period, to say the least.

The Tigers hired Brian Kelly to replace Ed Orgeron as its head coach and brought back just one assistant from Orgeron's staff. Thirteen players, as of Jan. 14, have either left LSU through the transfer portal or are still in it. And 10 players have declared for the NFL Draft.

With so much going out the door — especially from a personnel standpoint — LSU has needed to start adding pieces.

That's where the transfer portal comes into play. Here's a look at who LSU football has added from the portal.

Miles Frazier

Frazier was the No. 10 player and No. 2 offensive tackle available in the transfer portal when he landed at LSU, according to 247Sports. He had a stellar redshirt freshman campaign, earning first-team Freshman All-American honors after playing in only one game in 2020. Frazier adds much-needed stability to an LSU offensive line that's already lost three starters from a unit that struggled in 2021.

MCGLOTHERN TO THE PORTAL: LSU cornerback Dwight McGlothern, a returning starter, enters the transfer portal

Mekhi Garner

Garner, a junior, was a two-year starting cornerback at UL and spent three seasons with the Ragin' Cajuns after transferring from Navarro College in Texas. He had 31 total tackles and eight passes defended in 2021. LSU desperately needed depth and starting experience at cornerback after losing Derek Stingley Jr., Eli Ricks, Cordale Flott and Dwight McGlothern to either the NFL Draft or the portal.

Joe Foucha

Foucha started at safety with Arkansas for three seasons and is a New Orleans native who attended McDonogh 35 high school. He collected 73 total tackles in 2021, including 7.5 for loss. After four seasons with the Razorbacks, Foucha add experience and depth to a safety unit projected to bring back junior Jay Ward and freshman Major Burns.

Greg Brooks Jr.

Brooks started at nickelback for three seasons at Arkansas before transferring to LSU on Jan. 13. The junior and Harvey, Louisiana native had 39 total tackles in each of the last two seasons and four interceptions during his Razorbacks career. He adds much-needed stability and starting experience to an LSU cornerbacks unit that lost four key contributors from the 2021 season in McGlothern, Ricks, Stingley Jr. and Flott.

Noah Cain

Cain, a Baton Rouge native, transfers to LSU after three seasons at Penn State. The junior running back ran for 806 yards and 12 touchdowns in his Nittany Lions career and accumulated 350 yards on the ground in 2021. The Baton Rouge native adds depth to an LSU backfield that lost its starter, Tyron Davis-Price, to the NFL Draft but expects to bring back freshmen Armoni Goodwin and Corey Kiner, junior John Emery Jr. and sophomores Tre Bradford and Josh Williams.

Kyren Lacy

Lacy is a big-bodied receiver, 6-foot-3 and 212 pounds, who transfers to LSU following two seasons at UL. The sophomore caught 50 balls for 668 yards and 10 touchdowns in his career with the Ragin' Cajuns. The Thibodaux, Louisiana native also had over 800 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns in his senior season at Thibodaux high school. Lacy adds even more depth to a strong LSU wide receiver corps, joining junior Jaray Jenkins, sophomore Kayshon Boutte, freshmen Jack Bech, Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. and redshirt freshman Chris Hilton Jr.

West Weeks

Weeks, a former three-star recruit, comes to LSU after an exceptional freshman year at Virginia. The linebacker finished the season strong, making 28 of his 31 total tackles in the latter half. He also had a sack and five passes defended. Weeks adds needed depth and playing experience to an LSU linebacking corps that lost All-SEC first team selection Damone Clark to the NFL Draft.

Slade Roy

Roy, a long snapper, spent his freshman campaign at East Carolina in 2021 and transferred to LSU on New Year's Eve. He will be competing with sophomore Quentin Skinner and redshirt freshman Max Peterson for snaps next season.
